Y&R’s Daniel Goddard Opens up About the Joy of Fatherhood

Tags:

One of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Daniel Goddard‘s (Cane) favorite roles is that of dad. On-screen, the family-oriented character is the father of twins Charlie and Mattie, and in real life, the actor is raising his sons Sebastian and Ford. A reflective Goddard recently described the joys of being a parent. “Can you feel my pride?! It’s bursting out of me like one of those creatures out of Aliens! Cause this is my oldest,” he exclaimed on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself and Ford. “And let me tell you, being 13 in this day and age is so much harder than when we were kids. The pressure on them comes from so many different angles now, and on so many different levels… (Who has teens and knows what I mean?)

“But Ford, you are facing it all like a champ!” the Y&R star added, addressing his oldest boy directly. “The workload at school, the social load because of social media that we never had to deal with. And I’m so proud of you! Never let the world get you down, ever. Enjoy your summer break, you have earned it.”

Goddard also passed on heartfelt advice to his fans. “And this applies to everyone out there reading this,” he declared. “The world can be tough, and people can be cruel, but know just know this: ‘This too shall pass!’” He then paraphrased Andre Gide’s famous quote: “‘You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.’ I’ve got your back [Ford] till the day I die, never forget that. You are loved.”
