Sadly, June 7 marked Gina Tognoni’s last episode as Phyllis Summers on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. And after those scenes aired, the actress shared a peek behind the scenes at her final day on set at the CBS sudser. “That’s a wrap!” she posted. “Just after today’s scene. I am so grateful for everyone who took the journey with my Phyllis. See you soon.” In the clip, you can see Tognoni stepping off set wiping away tears as everyone applauds her. “I love you guys!” she shouts over the clapping. As the camera pans over the crowd, you can see Michael Mealor (Kyle) and Melissa Ordway (Abby) among them as well as Hunter King (Summer) who rushes over to intercept her departing TV mom to give her a big, emotional hug.
Although Y&R still has not officially confirmed the reports that Michelle Stafford (Nina, GENERAL HOSPITAL) is returning to reclaim her role, Phyllis’ story will continue. As will Tognoni’s career, as an actress this talented shouldn’t be out of work for very long. Remember, she’s a three-time Daytime Emmy Award Winner for her work on GUIDING LIGHT and Y&R!
In addition to the video clip, Tognoni also shared some photos from her final day on set, including a special visit from one of her co-stars who came in on his day off to say goodbye in person! Check them out in the gallery below.
