Y&R’s Kyle Goes Recurring!

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS has confirmed that Lachlan Buchanan (Kyle) has been bumped to recurring status. The actor entered the scene on February 25 during the “Who Killed Austin?” storyline. Unfortunately, the big reveal that Summer and Kyle were not siblings — which would have been meaty material for Buchanan to play — was revealed off-camera before he was cast in the role. The Summer/Kyle romance re-ignited following Austin’s untimely demise, but then the couple shifted to the backburner in favor of other stories.

Time will tell whether Buchanan’s recurring status means he’ll appear somewhat often, infrequently or if the character will simply vacate the story canvas. Y&R reminds that the show does not comment on the contract status of its cast members.
