THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Kristoff St. John Prepared to “Lose With Grace” at This Year’s Daytime Emmys

Kristoff St. John (Neil, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) had some very welcome company when he discovered he had received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination — his father, Christopher St. John!

St. John admits that he’d forgotten the timing of everything, so when his phone blew up with notifications and congratulations for receiving his very first nomination in the Lead Actor category, it came as a surprise to both of them. “We both jumped around the living room for about 30 seconds,” he tells Soaps In Depth. “I’m not kidding. My 77-year-old dad and I grabbed hands and jumped in a circle and went, ‘Yay!’”

The actor reports he’ll also have family with him at the Emmy ceremony because his 12-year-old daughter, Lola, is begging to come along. “I told her that a ticket to the Emmys, I could buy her a ticket down to Florida and Disney World and we could have a great weekend,” he smiles. “She’s like, ‘I don’t care. I want to go!’ I said, ‘How come you want to go so bad?’ And she said, ‘Well, you won the last time you took me.’”

Still, St. John is realistic about his chances, considering the stiff competition in his category this year. “I take my hat off to all four of the nominees,” he says, “especially Anthony Geary (ex-Luke, GENERAL HOSPITAL) for having a legendary career. I’m preparing myself to lose with grace when Mr. Geary receives the night’s Emmy. If for some odd reason, the gods shower me with the moment of glory, I’ll rush on stage and take it, but that’s how I feel.”
