The Rosales family expanded by one more member when Sasha Calle joined the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as Arturo and Rey’s younger sister, Lola! The character made her debut in the Sept. 14 episode. “Oh man, has it been hard to keep this a secret,” the actress gushed on Instagram after the news of her casting broke. “With overwhelming joy and honor, I want to thank Sony, CBS, Y&R, CBS Daytime, executive producer Mal Young and everyone involved with this beautiful, beautiful opportunity."
Lola showed up in Genoa City running a Cuban food truck outside of the Jabot office building where Kyle Abbott was immediately taken by both the food and the feisty young woman serving it. Lola gets along great with older brother Arturo, but less so with Rey who treats her like a child. Feeling rejected by Summer, Kyle asked Lola out on a date, but can these two actually make a relationship work coming from opposite sides of the tracks?
Y&R is Calle’s daytime debut. She has appeared in a bunch of short films and played Virginia in the YouTube series SOCIALLY AWKWARD. She’s also musically inclined, singing a song in the short film Rogue Tiger, so perhaps Lola is also a singer who could find herself signed to Devon’s record label?
“Mom, this one’s for you!” Calle declared when she was cast on the soap. “I wouldn’t be here without your love and support. There were times of heartache and struggle, but those times are now changing. I love you! To my young girls and boys who are told that dreams are only dreams. I want you to see that they are achievable! Lord knows how hard it’s been, but please believe and continue to push towards what you love! Because God and this universe will bless you. I promise you it’s worth the fight.”
Lola's story has only just begun, so you won't want to miss any of the upcoming twists and turns. “Tune in every day to see Lola Rosales and the Rosales family as they are welcomed to Genoa City!” Calle urged, adding, “Woah, this is surreal!”
