Nick and Sharon’s wedding ceremony was definitely full of surprises but one viewers may not have been expecting was Noah Nemwan’s return to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS when Robert Adamson made an unexpected appearance for the special occasion. “I heard something about a wedding going on,” the actor joked to Soaps In Depth, “so I can’t say that I’m totally shocked [to get the call], but you never know. I got a phone call saying they wanted me to come in for a short stint and see the parents, check in on them to make sure that they didn’t burn down the city.”
While the actor was kidding about setting Genoa City on fire, it was certainly a good thing that Noah was on hand to help his parents navigate the fallout to Sharon’s calling off the wedding due to Nick sleeping with Phyllis! But Adamson insisted he was happier to be part of some juicy drama instead of a happy holiday party. “Yeah, way more fun to have fireworks!” he declared before adding with a wink: “Hopefully somebody gets killed or something.”
Adamson took over the role of Noah in 2012, and after dropping to recurring status with the soap in 2016, departed in February of 2018. And even though he’d been gone for the better part of the year, it was almost as if no time had passed when he entered the studio. “There are so many people on set that I hang out with outside of Y&R,” the actor explained. “Everybody there is like family. I felt like I never left. I showed up, I walked in the door and just went up to hair and makeup. Aside from a few extra-exuberant high-fives and hugs, that was about it.”
The wedding also marked the first time that Noah realized that his sister, Mariah, was officially dating his ex, Tessa. “I really think that Noah, in his heart of hearts, knew that [Mariah and Tessa] were a better fit,” Adamson mused. “It was always such a tumultuous thing between him and Tessa. It never felt quite right, and then Camryn [Grimes, Mariah] and Cait’s [Fairbanks, Tessa] characters… they had this obvious sort of chemistry from the get-go that was always playing in the background. so to say that it’s a complete blindside is not true. Of course, it’s painful because it feels like a bit of a betrayal, but I think it’s something that he’ll recover on!”
Stay tuned to see what else Noah gets up to and for more from Adamson on his return to Y&R and what else he’s been up to in his career since leaving the soap, be sure to pick up his interview in an upcoming CBS issue of Soaps In Depth magazine!
