Chelsea Newman is coming back! That’s right — Melissa Claire Egan is returning to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS! “Told ya it was just ‘goodbye for now,’” the actress Tweeted when the news broke. “This is gonna be good!” According to Entertainment Weekly, she will begin taping in May so viewers can expect to see Chelsea back on screen sometime in June… perhaps when Adam also makes his return?
Egan first joined the cast of Y&R back in November of 2011, after a run playing Annie Lavery on ABC sudser ALL MY CHILDREN. However, in January of 2018, the actress revealed that she was saying goodbye to Genoa City after six years in the role. Although as she said at the time, it was just “goodbye for now,” leaving fans hopeful that she would one day return to the role. During her time away from soaps, Egan starred in the Hallmark movie Holiday for Heroes, which fans can look forward to seeing later this year.
Chelsea was last seen on Y&R back in February of 2018 when she skipped town with her son, Connor, to avoid going to jail for embezzling money from Fenmore’s. She left Christian, with Nick, with whom she was romantically involved before she left Genoa City. However, Chelsea was truly in love with Adam, and now that he’s also on his way back to Y&R — although with Mark Grossman taking over the role from Justin Hartley — it’s the perfect time for Chelsea to resurface.
