What Happened to Katie on The Young and The Restless

It looks like Katie on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS is going to be getting into some trouble, and some newer viewers of the soap might be wondering exactly who this adorable little girl is and who she belongs to. Well, let us fill you in on her history (she’s young, so it’ll be brief!). Played by twins Reese and Kennedy Staib as an infant, the role was later recast with Sienna Mercuri, who is still playing Katie today.

Katherine “Katie” Rose Abbott Newman is the daughter of Victoria Newman and Billy Abbott, although there was some question as to the baby’s paternity when Victoria became pregnant. She and Billy were separated and she was dating Stitch Rayburn, but had slept with both men close enough together she wasn’t sure who was the babydaddy. She was going to have a paternity test run, but learning Ben was keeping secrets and Billy was still causing trouble made her want nothing to do with either man. The pregnancy was already high risk and she didn’t want the extra stress.

Victoria feared she was going into labor during Nick and Sharon’s wedding, but it was just Braxton-Hicks contractions. Unfortunately, she gave birth in the Jabot Cosmetics parking garage instead after being locked in a storage closet in the building by Stitch’s mom, Maureen Russell. Billy and Stitch found her, but Victoria was already in labor, and the two men worked together to deliver the baby girl who she named after her godmother, Katherine Chancellor.

Ben was heartbroken when a paternity test revealed that Billy was Katie’s father, but after reconciling with Victoria, moved in and became her stepfather. At the christening, Jack Abbott was named Katie’s godfather and Abby Newman the godmother. After, Nikki Newman nearly dropped the infant while taking pictures, and blamed her Multiple Sclerosis to cover for her drinking. Victoria threatened to keep Nikki from her granddaughter unless she went to rehab.

In 2015, Katie was attending a Halloween party with her brother, Johnny Abbott, at the Newman Towers when a fire broke out. Kevin Fisher and Mariah Copeland helped lead the children to safety and Victoria was very grateful. Now, Katie appears to have an imaginary friend she informed her grandpa, Victor Newman, that grown-ups can’t see. Just what’s going on?
