An ABC Daytime superstar is coming to CBS Daytime — Eva LaRue is joining the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as Celeste Rosales, the mother of Rey Rosales and Lola Rosales, played by Jordi Vilasuso and Sasha Calle. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that she will begin filming at the end of May to first air on Wednesday, June 26.
LaRue is best known for her role of Dr. Maria Santos Grey on ALL MY CHILDREN, which she played from 1993-97 and again from 2002-2005. During this time, she received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations. First, in 1997, for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and then in 2004 for Outstanding Original Song for co-writing “Dance Again With You,” used as a love theme for the supercouple Edmund and Maria.
After her successful run on AMC, she left daytime to join the cast of GEORGE LOPEZ and then star on CSI: MIAMI. More recently, LaRue has appeared in FULLER HOUSE and MACK & MOXY as well as the films Urban Cowboy and Orphan Horse.
The Rosales family made a big splash on Y&R last year but with Mia and Arturo leaving the soap, it appears they’re concentrating more on Lola and Rey, and bringing in their mother should bring some more drama to their lives as they are said to have a complex relationship.
