That's ABC Daytime superstar Eva LaRue playing Celeste Rosales on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS! She made her debut in the June 26 episode, and while LaRue only signed on for a short-term stint, who knows what the future might hold? "Thanks everyone for the warm welcome," she shared on Instagram shortly before her first appearance. "Love this character and really great working with my new daughter."
Celeste is the mother of Lola Rosales and showed up at her bridal shower at the invitation of Abby Newman. While Lola was thrilled to see her mom again, how will her brother, Rey, feel about having her back in his life? Celeste is excited to be a part of her daughter's wedding preparations, but she very quickly found herself stirring up some drama. Fearing she might disapprove that they were already living together, Kyle and Lola attempted to make it look like they weren't, but that didn't last long. Lola also bristled under her mother's constant criticism as she stuck her nose into not just the upcoming nuptials but also other aspects of her daughter's life in Genoa City.
Moving out of Lola's apartment and back into a hotel, Celeste tried to get Rey on her side, but he continued to support his sister. Rey also freaked out at the very mention that their father might want to attend the wedding to walk Lola down the aisle.
LaRue is best known for her role of Dr. Maria Santos Grey on ALL MY CHILDREN, which she played from 1993-97 and again from 2002-2005. During this time, she received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations. First, in 1997, for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and then in 2004 for Outstanding Original Song for co-writing “Dance Again With You,” used as a love theme for the supercouple Edmund and Maria.
After her successful run on AMC, she left daytime to join the cast of GEORGE LOPEZ and then star on CSI: MIAMI. More recently, LaRue has appeared in FULLER HOUSE and MACK & MOXY as well as the films Urban Cowboy and Orphan Horse.
The Rosales family made a big splash on Y&R last year but with Mia and Arturo having left the soap, it appears they’re concentrating more on Lola and Rey, and bringing in their mother should bring some more drama to their lives as they are said to have a complex relationship.
