Fans who have finally stopped crying over Hilary’s death on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS may want to grab some fresh tissues when they read Bryton James’ farewell message to his beloved co-star, Mishael Morgan. There’s a reason that Devon and Hilary were such a popular couple on the soap — the actors had chemistry to spare and that stemmed from their off-screen friendship.
“Well, that’s a wrap,” James wrote. “Mishael, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being the talent and the person that you are. Who knows where Devon would even be without you. But I do know that I cherished every single day on set with you. And I’m sure I can speak for our entire Y&R/CBS Daytime family when I say that we all did, and will forever miss the love and joy you brought us!”
Well that’s a wrap... @mishaelmorgan thank you from the bottom of my heart for being the talent & the person that you are. Who knows where Devon would even be without you... but I do know that I cherished every single day on set with you... & I’m sure I can speak for our entire @youngandrestlesscbs / @cbsdaytime family when I say that we all did, & will forever miss the love & joy you brought us! #YR #Hevon
Hilary Curtis was introduced in 2013 when Morgan joined the soap, and when she was paired with Devon Hamilton, their forbidden affair proved so popular with fans that they became one of Y&R’s supercouples and viewers christened them with the nickname “Hevon.” Heck, fans even noticed the chemistry between the pair long before Devon and Hilary officially became a couple!
Sadly, although Hilary and Devon seemed poised to finally enjoy some happiness, moving in together and expecting their first child together, a tragic car accident tore all of that away. Morgan’s exit from the soap meant Y&R had to figure out a way to write her character off the canvas, and since it wasn’t likely HIlary would leave her true love, the character was killed off.
Although the episodes surrounding Hilary’s passing were brilliantly written, produced, and performed, fans still miss the character and her portrayer dearly. And judging from his goodbye message, so does her co-star!
