Beth Maitland Is ‘So Excited’ to Be Back in the Opening Credits of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

Tags:

The Sept. 24 episode of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS will contain a change that may be subtle to some viewers, but not to actress Beth Maitland (Traci), who can now be seen in the opening titles to the soap! “So excited to be back after over two decades in the opening credits,” she shared on Instagram.

Maitland joined the cast of Y&R as Traci Abbott back in 1982, and although originally intended as a short-term role, she impressed the producers so much they put her on contract where she remained until 1993. Her talent also won her the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1985 and another nomination in the same category in 2019. In the years since 1993, Maitland has appeared on a recurring basis, sometimes for holidays and other times for lengthier storylines such as the death of her daughter, Colleen Carlton, and when the Abbott family dealt with Dina Mergeron‘s Alzheimer’s. Most recently, Traci penned another book, this one inspired by Cane Ashby, and the two became very close friends.

The actress’ castmates, including Jason Thompson (Billy), Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren), and Lauralee Bell (Christine), responded to her social media post by congratulating her in the comments and sharing some love. However, when asked if her inclusion in the opening credits means she’s back on contract, Maitland responded: “Nope. But glad to be around more.”

Hopefully, Maitland’s return to the opening titles is a sign that Traci will continue to be involved in more storylines in the future so we can all enjoy this talented actress’ performances for many years to come!
