Actress Kimberlin Brown is getting into politics! Best known for playing Sheila on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, the Daytime Emmy Nominee is throwing her hat into the ring and running for Congress in District 36 in California. “For the first time in the history of our great country, we are not leaving something better behind for our youth,” Brown said in a statement on her official website. “Though I’d be walking away from a very lucrative business and career, it’s a move I’m willing to make, to make a difference.”
While soap fans know Brown best for her roles on soaps like B&B, Y&R, ALL MY CHILDREN, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, GENERAL HOSPITAL, PORT CHARLES, and ANOTHER WORLD, she and her husband, Gary Pelzer, are also small business owners. Together they have developed businesses like a sports fishing and marina rental business and an avocado farm. Brown also owns and runs a design company called K. Brown Design.
It was as a small business owner that Brown recently entered the political arena as a featured speaker at the 2016 Republican National Convention. She spoke about small businesses, women in business, and securing the American Dream for future generations. This experience inspired Brown to run for Congress in her district, believing it has not been well-represented in recent years.
If elected, it would mean leaving show business behind, but thankfully for soap fans, it wouldn’t be forever. “I’m not looking to be a career politician,” Brown declared. “I will get out when I’m no longer effective.”
