Fans got an unwelcome Christmas present when Ingo Rademacher announced he was leaving THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL where he has played Thorne Forrester since November of 2017. Over the holiday break, the actor clarified his status on his Instagram page. “It is true what you are hearing and I think it’s time to set the record straight,” he said. “I have decided not to continue with my contract on B&B and I’ll be finishing up my last episodes in January.
“I want to thank Brad Bell (we’ve been communicating), the entire show and cast (truly awesome people) and also CBS for a fun year of playing Thorne,” Rademacher continued. “We are parting on good terms and with the possibility of a return. We shall see what the new year brings.”
Rademacher took over the role of Thorne in 2017 after the soap decided to recast the role previously played for the past two decades by Winsor Harmon. Before that, it was played by Clayton Norcross when the soap premiered in 1987, and then by Jeff Trachta from 1989-96. Rademacher was already a daytime star from his role as Jasper Jacks on GENERAL HOSPITAL, which he had played from 1996-2013 with an additional stint from 2016-17. In 2016, he also had a recurring role on the primetime series HAWAII FIVE-0.
Fans who frequent the actor’s Instagram account were already aware that he was back in Hawaii with his wife and two sons instead of at work at B&B. “Yes, I have been in Hawaii for the last two months with my family working on my property and will continue to stay here throughout January,” Rademacher explained, “but then it’s back to L.A.”
When he heads back to Hollywood, might Rademacher make recurring appearances on B&B, bring Jax back to GH, or pursue new roles in primetime? Only time will tell, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated on his career. And for more B&B casting news, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
