Spears Stars In BET Movie

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’S Aaron D. Spears (Justin) is starring alongside Gabrielle Union in the BET original movie Being Mary Jane, which will air Tuesday, July 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

He’ll also be a regular cast member on the one-hour drama series of the same name, which is expected to premiere on the network early next year.

Spears plays co-worker and confidante to Union’s character who is a single woman trying to balance her career with finding Mr. Right. “We work at the same cable news company,” says Spears. “My character is kind of like her best friend. I’m the male she can confide in.”

The project is helmed by power-producing couple Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, whose credits include the series GIRLFRIENDS, THE GAME and the film Sparkle. “Tika Sumpter (ex-Layla, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) also appears as one of the title character’s gal pals.

Though Spears has spent the better part of the past year commuting from his home in L.A. to where the show films in Atlanta, this doesn’t mean B&B viewers have seen the last of Bill’s best friend and counsel, Justin. “I’ve been more busy, but I’ll always make an effort to come back to B&B,” he says.
