Nadia Bjorlin Opens up About Leaving DAYS OF OUR LIVES (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

When DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Chloe became a partner in the resurrected Doug’s Place, fans had high hopes that the opera singer would be turning in some local performances. However, getting kidnapped and subsequently threatened by cartel members, getting dumped by Lucas, then having surrogate daughter Holly “perish” proved to be all that the single mother could swing. So when an opportunity to perform elsewhere for a season promised to take her away from Salem, no one could blame the harried heroine for accepting.

However, for the beauty’s talented portrayer, Nadia Bjorlin, parting ways (again) with the character that she first originated back in 1999 was sweet sorrow. “It’s been an absolute honor and a privilege to be part of DAYS’ legacy,” she reflected quietly to Soaps In Depth. “It’s like family over there, and I thank them for all of the years of support. And I thank the fans who’ve rooted for Chloe every step of the way, no matter what she’s done — good or bad!”

But why did the songbird have to leave now? While Bjorlin admitted that she still “doesn’t know all the behind-the-scenes workings of how these decisions get made,” she did leave with the basic understanding that having thrown an awful lot at Chloe over the past three years, the writers needed to rest the character. Plus, “I didn’t feel like it was a permanent thing, and they didn’t really present it that way,” Bjorlin shared. “They just said, ‘We’re just not going to pick up your contract until we figure out what to do with you.’”

Given her druthers, the actress would’ve liked to further develop the renewed connection between Chloe and her ex-husband, Brady. “I regret that the idea of Chloe and Brady’s romance wasn’t explored because I feel like they have such great history,” she said, adding, “I actually only started to work with [Brady’s portrayer] Eric Martsolf the last few months, and I really enjoyed it. But then they decided to write me out.”

Since wrapping her latest DAYS stint in February, Bjorlin said that she’s been “back to the grind of going to auditions and seeing what else is out there.” You can catch her this winter in the second season of online political drama BEACON HILL as the opportunist wife of a senator’s grandson (played by DAYS’ former Nathan, Mark Hapka).

However, most of the performer’s time has been spent with her two boys — Torin, 3, and Viggo, 2. “There has been something nice about being able to be home more with my kids, even though they are usually either glued to me or running away from me!” she said with a laugh. “I’ve been getting to see their fun personalities.”

While there’s always a chance that Bjorlin could wind up being cast by another daytime drama, the actress wants to assure her DAYS fans that “this is not a good-bye.” Rather, she insists, “This is ‘See you next time!’”
