Has Y&R Hired A New Abby?

Tags:

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS executive producer Jill Farren Phelps has reportedly wasted no time in hiring another actress to replace the exiting Emme Rylan (formerly known as Marcy) in the role of Abby. Within hours of word spreading yesterday that Rylan, who has been on recurring status with Y&R since returning to the soap in January, was heading to GENERAL HOSPITAL to take over the role of Lulu from a departing Julie Marie Berman, Daytime Confidential broke the news that HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS actress Melissa Ordway had been hired to assume the role of the Newman heiress.

Ordway, who recently appeared on 90210, is the third HEIGHTS star tapped by Phelps (who helmed the Nickelodeon daily primetime sudser last summer) to join the Y&R cast, joining Robert Adamson (Noah) and Hunter King (Summer) in Genoa City. As for Rylan’s soap switch, the actress tweeted, “Thank you so much for all of the love and support! I’m sad to leave Abby but I’m thrilled to have a chance to explore Lulu’s world!”

Although the soap has yet to confirm Ordway’s casting or reveal Rylan’s final air date, Daytime Confidential reports that the Y&R newcomer will make her debut on Monday, April 22.
