Gaskill Is CASTLE Bound!

For “Cool Boys,” the Monday, November 9, episode of ABC’s CASTLE, Brian Gaskill is playing a character more in line with AS THE WORLD TURNS’ psycho B.J. as opposed to his roles as THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s Oscar or GUIDING LIGHT’s Dylan. He’s appearing as a dangerous man who heads up a heist crew. “He has a big scene with both Nathan Fillion [Joey, ONE LIFE TO LIVE] and Adam Baldwin [THE LAST SHIP], who is returning as Detective Ethan Slaughter [from season four], that you do not want to miss,” previews showrunner Terence Paul Winter.

For Gaskill, reuniting with Fillion, whom he’d met while they were both soap stars, was an intriguing prospect. “I’d done stuff back with him in the 90s for ABC Daytime,” Gaskill reveals. “He was Joey [on ONE LIFE TO LIVE] when I was Bobby [on ALL MY CHILDREN].”

However, Winter says their interaction on CASTLE might leave an even bigger impression. “I think it’s something that people will be YouTubing and watching over and over and over again,” he suggests. “I don’t want to risk spoiling it by saying more, but it’s wonderful!”

During the week leading up to shooting, Gaskill enjoyed spending time on set. “You know, when you’re on the air eight seasons, you’re not just successful, you’re probably good people,” he surmises of the CASTLE crew. “Not only were the costume people great, but also, they immediately sent me down to production where they were shooting and brought me to set to meet with the hair and makeup people. I don’t think I’ve ever been on the primetime show where they took that kind of time with a guest star. It was great.”

Tune in to catch him at 10:00 p.m. EST. For more about the episode, don’t miss the CASTLE Primetime Preview feature in next week’s ABC issue of Soaps In Depth.
