Daytime star Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) has been living a real-life version of a scary plot from a soap opera or Lifetime movie, but has finally been granted a temporary restraining order against a man who has been harassing her online for years!
According to court documents obtained by E! News, Sweeney now has a restraining order to protect her from Jon Christopher LuVisi, whose unwanted contact “has spanned the course of years, but in the past nine months escalated to such an extent that Plantiff reasonably fears for her safety and the safety of her family.”
In the documents filed on June 30, Sweeney alleges that LuVisi’s messages on social media became increasingly hostile in recent months, even going so far as claiming that the two had an affair and trying to extort money out of the actress to keep quiet about the affair.
Sweeny attempted to block LuVisi on social media, but he would simply create a new account to continue the harassment and send threatening messages demanding that she stop ignoring him and trying to hide. He also reportedly found her personal home address and posted it online, leading her to fear for her own safety as well as that of her husband David Sanov and their children, Benjamin and Megan.
A California judge ordered LuVisi to stay 1,000 feet away from Sweeney, her home, car, and work, as well as her children’s school. When law enforcement investigated the situation, they spoke to LuVisi's wife, who was aware of her husband’s obsession with the actress and had nearly divorced him because of it.
The former host of THE BIGGEST LOSER has just finished taping her most recent stint on DAYS, and most recently starred in the latest installment in Hallmark Channel’s Murder She Baked movie series, Just Desserts.
We’re glad that Sweeney was finally able to get the law on her side to help her feel safe again, and we hope that LuVisi gets the help that he needs.
