Fans of Lily and Cane on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS were crushed when the couple split up to facilitate actress Christel Khalil going off-contract with the soap. But they can get excited because she's on her way back to Genoa City once more! Y&R has announced Lily will be appearing on Friday, Oct. 25.
Back in September, Daniel Goddard (Cane) teased his co-star's return with a cute Instagram video. "You want to see something cool?" he asked fans from the parking lot of CBS Studios. The actor panned the camera off his face and down to the placard for one of the parking spots with his own name on it. "That's me," he declared, quickly adding, "but that's not the cool part. You wanna see the cool part? Here's the cool part." Goddard then pans back off his face again, this time turning the camera to the parking space next to him that has Khalil's name on it! "That's the cool part," he smiled. Of course, whether or not this means Lily will be getting back together with Cane remains to be seen!
Khalil became a fan favorite when she joined the cast of Y&R as a newly-teenaged Lily Winters back in 2002. She departed the soap in 2005 and the role was recast, but Khalil reclaimed it again in 2006. But in 2018, the actress announced her decision to drop to recurring status with the show and has made only sporadic appearances since then.
Lily was first sent off to prison for her role in the car accident that killed Hilary Curtis, but even upon her release, Lily decided not to return home to Cane and her family and instead forge a new life for herself. The last time Lily was seen on screen was back in June when she attended the dedication ceremony for Neil's plaque.
There's no information on how long this particular stint will be or what Lily will be up to this time (although we would guess she's going to have something to say about Amanda Sinclair's resemblance to Hilary!) so stay tuned to find out!
