All About ATWT Legend's ANACOSTIA Role!

When the Web series ANACOSTIA returns this fall, two-time Emmy winner Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda, AS THE WORLD TURNS) will join the cast in the custom-made role of Eva Montgomery. In making her Web series debut, Hubbard will be reunited with her ATWT daughter, Martha Byrne (Lily), who plays ANACOSTIA’s Alexis. (This year, Byrne won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performer In A New Approaches Drama Series for her role.)

Series creator, writer and star Anthony Anderson tells Soaps In Depth that daytime legend Hubbard was “absolutely” someone he’s had on his wish list for the show. “Martha and I had spoken about this idea back in 2011 when she came on board,” Anderson explains. “It was just a matter of the right role and opportunity and now we have it. It’s going to be amazing. This character is a handful!”

Along with Anderson, Byrne wrote the story arc for Hubbard’s character — and will make her directorial debut in the scenes featuring Eva and Alexis. “We are keeping some of it a secret, but I will say this much: Eva is a woman determined to get what she wants by any means necessary,” teases Anderson. “There is a point in the story where her actions are even called into question by those around her. It’s going to be a joy seeing her in this role, and I think the fans will see her in a whole new light.”
