You’ll Be FINDING Watros On TV Tonight!

Remember when Cynthia Watros ** had to vacate her role as Kelly on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS because of a new primetime drama, MTV’s FINDING CARTER? Well, you can see her in action when the show debuts tonight, Tuesday, July 8, at 10 p.m. EST on MTV! The 12-episode series focuses on Carter, a teenager (played by REIGN’s **Kathryn Prescott), who discovers that the woman who’s been raising her isn’t her mother — Watros’ character, Elizabeth, a police detective, is!

“I’m the mother of a teenaged girl and I was hoping to do one of those GILMORE GIRL type [shows],” executive producer Terri Minksy tells Soaps In Depth. “This brilliant, beautiful [script] was available and I took it! I really did respond to it and wanted to write a mother/daughter piece.”

The pilot shows Carter and Lori (the mother who kidnapped her) having yogurt with a side of gummy bears and banter for dinner before Carter’s world turns upside down. “That scene is almost literally a transcript of my life with my daughter,” Minsky reveals. “We do the ‘love you, love you more’ thing that Carter and Lori do.”

Scene-stealer** Zac Pullman** plays Grant, the younger brother Carter never met since he was conceived after she was kidnapped and became — in his words — the “replacement” child. “What does that do to him psychologically,” Minksy rhetorically asks. “What will Carter’s relationship with him be?”

CARTER scored a casting coup with Watros’ TV parents — they’re played by Robert Pine (ex-Stephen, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIUFL) and Meredith Baxter (FAMILY TIES). “Writing for those two is beyond fun,” Minksy shares.
