THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Stars Thank You for Making Them Number One for 30 Years!

Congratulations to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for being the number one soap for the past 30 years! The soap has just marked its 1560th consecutive week as television’s top serialized drama according to Nielsen life plus same day ratings for the week ending Nov. 30. “And it’s all because of you, the fans,” declared Jess Walton (Jill) in a special video message to thank viewers for making Y&R number one for three decades. Added Lauralee Bell (Christine): “Having you watch us for so long means everything to us.”

You can hear more gratitude from Y&R stars like Eric Braeden (Victor), Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), Sharon Case (Sharon), Joshua Morrow (Nick), Kristoff St. John (Neil), and more in the very thankful video right here!

Y&R was first broadcast in March of 1973 and began this unbroken winning streak the week ending Dec. 30, 1988. Thanks to this soap along with THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and fellow CBS Daytime series THE PRICE IS RIGHT, LET’S MAKE A DEAL, and THE TALK, CBS has been the number one daytime network for 32 consecutive years.

“The legacy of this show is remarkable,” said Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, CBS Daytime Programs and Syndicated Programs Development. “No other modern day entertainment program in any daypart has been the top-rated show for 30 consecutive years. This is an extraordinary feat that could not have been possible without the passion and commitment of the fans, cast, crew and staff. Their support has helped to make CBS’ daytime block the powerhouse that it is.”
