Chelsea Newman is coming back! That’s right — Melissa Claire Egan is returning to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS! “Told ya it was just ‘goodbye for now,’” the actress Tweeted when the news broke. “This is gonna be good!” Look for Egan to make her grand return to Genoa City on Friday, June 28. In the days leading up to her first episode back, the star teased her imminent return with a behind-the-scenes Instagram snap of her and Sharon Case (Sharon). “Chelsea’s got some explaining to do (i.e. why she knocked Sharon unconscious before she left town last year),” she joked.

Egan first joined the cast of Y&R back in November of 2011, after a run playing Annie Lavery on ABC sudser ALL MY CHILDREN. However, in January of 2018, the actress revealed that she was saying goodbye to Genoa City after six years in the role. Although as she said at the time, it was just “goodbye for now,” leaving fans hopeful that she would one day return to the role. During her time away from soaps, Egan starred in the Hallmark movie Holiday for Heroes, which fans can look forward to seeing later this year.

Chelsea was last seen on Y&R back in February of 2018 when she skipped town with her son, Connor, to avoid going to jail for embezzling money from Fenmore’s. She left Christian, with Nick, with whom she was romantically involved before she left Genoa City. However, Chelsea was truly in love with Adam, and now that he’s also back on Y&R — although with Mark Grossman taking over the role from Justin Hartley — it’s the perfect time for Chelsea to resurface. But what’s this we hear about her having a new husband?
