Daniel Goddard Shares Video From After Christel Khalil's Last Scene on Y&R

Fans aren’t the only ones who miss seeing Christel Khalil as Lily Ashby on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, her co-stars do, too! Back in August, the actress announced that she was dropping to recurring status with the soap to explore other opportunities, and TV hubby Daniel Goddard (Cane) just shared a video he captured back then. “I filmed this after Christel’s last scene a few months back, when her character was being transferred to a prison 400 miles away,” he revealed. “I wasn’t going to post it, but it’s such a fun yet bittersweet video in so many ways, that now I wanted to share. Well, the fun part is that Christel didn’t know I was filming and thought I was just taking a pic! But it’s moments like these that make working with people that you love so very special.”

In the selfie video Goddard shot, Khalil doesn’t want her picture taken because she’s in her drab prison wardrobe, hair, and makeup, but he doesn’t give up easily, constantly angling the camera and pulling her into the frame. You can also see the exact moment where she realizes he’s not trying to snap a selfie, but has been recording the whole while!

“I love you,” Goddard tells his TV wife, pulling her into a hug and kissing her on the forehead. “12 years.” Khalil pulls away, trying to wave him off, complaining that he’s gonna make her cry. This was the kind of chemistry between the two actors that led to Lily and Cane becoming one of Y&R’s most popular supercouples.

While Khalil recently appeared in the Lifetime movie Sorority Stalker, she remains on recurring status with Y&R, so there could be more appearances coming up in the future when Lily’s family visits her in prison. And she’s not going to be locked behind bars forever, either!
