Chris McKenna’s Family Survived a Serious Car Accident

Daytime alum Chris McKenna has revealed that his family was involved in a very serious car accident, but thankfully everyone survived. “For those concerned,” he shared on Instagram. “My mom, brother, sister-in-law, and niece were in a head-on collision yesterday. Everyone lived. The baby is miraculously unharmed, Ry is very sore, Mal has a cracked sternum, my mother sustained serious injuries to her legs, arms, chest, and will require multiple surgeries and extensive rehab. I’ll be going home to take care of her for a while. Coulda been worse. If you know Ry or Mal, feel free to drop them a line; They’re pretty shaken up, but so thankful as well.”

The actor, best known to CBS fans for his role as Detective Mark Harding on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and ABC fans for playing Joey Buchanan on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, also took to social media to thank the makers of the car seat that saved the life of his beautiful niece, Ripley. “To Chicco USA,” McKenna tweeted, “My family was involved in a head-on collision. Though many serious injuries were sustained and both cars were destroyed, everyone will eventually recover. Thanks to your car seat, our precious six-month-old baby Ripley was completely unharmed. Forever grateful.”

As fans took to social media to express their love, McKenna was touched by the outpouring of emotion. “Thank you, everyone, for all your support and warmth,” he tweeted. “We’re very moved and appreciative. I’ll update with good news as it arrives. For now, this one is still smiling and nothing matters more to Mom than that.”
