The YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Beth Maitland Shares What Motherhood Means to Her (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

Over time, Beth Maitland‘s (Traci, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) appreciation for Mother’s Day has increased. “When my own mother was alive, I didn’t really understand why she was so adamant about spending the day together,” she reflected to Soaps In Depth. “But once I had a daughter of my own, I got it! It’s a celebration of the miracle of continuance — the reality that part of yourself can go beyond time and the here and now. It’s all about the future and family, as well as hope and love.”

Of course, motherhood is more than Mother’s Day. “Becoming a mother changed my life in every good way possible,” said Maitland. “It brought this baby who was a gift of love for a lifetime. It completed me as a woman and challenged me as a human to raise a contributing, responsible and epic new citizen of the world.

“I have learned gratitude, patience, unlimited forgiveness, unconditional love and the tremendous hope for the future that my life before a child could not give me,” continued the Emmy winner. “I have learned to trust in things I cannot see and especially the things in my daughter and all children that are pure and right and good!” Asked if she has a favorite Mother’s Day, Maitland isn’t one to look to the past. “Every next one is my favorite Mother’s Day,” she smiled. “Because to me, having children means the future — and waiting eagerly to see what comes next!”
