Rylan Dishes On MY DAD Gig!

On Thursday, February 10, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Marcy Rylan (Abby) swings by the CBS hitcom $#*! MY DAD SAYS, and the actress tells Soaps In Depth that her character, Rebecca, is nothing like her Genoa City alter ego. “She’s no NAKED HEIRESS,” laughs Rylan. “Rebecca is very chaste and very innocent.” In the episode, “Lock And Load,” Henry (played by series star Jonathan Sadowski) hopes to make a love connection when he runs into his old friend from summer camp, but Rebecca doesn’t exactly jump at the offer. “Let’s just say that she doesn’t believe in sex before marriage.”

This particular guest spot was a first for Rylan, and she hopes that it won’t be her last! “I’ve done comedy on film, on stage, and I try to bring a little comedy to daytime whenever I can. But it was my first time ever doing a sitcom,” she explains, adding that working on the show turned out to be a real eye-opening experience. “Soap actors have the ability to learn lines really fast. We get cuts and changes in the morning, and move at a crazy fast pace. But I have to say… I didn’t realize how fast sitcom artists get their new lines and have to turn them around!” she marvels. “They film a scene, and then producers and writers walk up to the actors [right on set] and cut jokes and add new ones. Then the actors have about five seconds to digest the new lines that they’ve never heard before and they turn around and do the scene again in front of a live studio audience! It was an amazing learning experience.”
