Lorie Brooks on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS — Everything You Need to Know

Who is Lorie Brooks on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS? Let us fill in some of the gaps for newer viewers who might not be familiar with this character. Jaime Lyn Bauer debuted as the character in 1973 and remained with the soap until 1982, though she made occasional appearances in the years that followed, most recently in 2018 for Y&R‘s 45th anniversary.

Lorie arrived in Genoa City in 1973, and the jealous young woman plotted against her older sister, Leslie Brooks. She schemed to steal Brad Elliot away, and when she succeeded, Leslie had a breakdown and ended up in the hospital! Furious, Brad dumped Lorie, who turned to Jed Andrews… at least until she learned he was married. Next, she dated Mark Henderson and they even got engaged, but broke it off after discovering that they were half-siblings!

Although Lorie penned a thinly-disguised biography about living in her sister’s shadow, she shelved it when she and her sibling reconciled. Leslie pushed her sister to date Lance Prentiss, and Lorie fell in love with him despite initially feeling like she was his second choice after Leslie. The two married, but his mother, Vanessa, didn’t approve and shot at Lorie, hitting Lance by accident! She also found Lorie’s book and had it published, which destroyed Leslie. Offering comfort led to Lance sleeping with Leslie, and Lorie was crushed to learn her sister was pregnant.

Lance was struggling with depression, and Vanessa agreed to reinstate him in the company if Lorie divorced him. Once he got his life back on track, Lance was devastated to learn Lorie had actually gone through with the divorce. She flirted with Victor Newman, who was after shares of Prentiss Industries, but Lorie eventually reconciled with Lance so she refused to sell him hers. Vanessa ultimately jumped off the balcony of Lorie’s penthouse, framing her for murder, and as the evidence stacked up, Lance left her.

Due to Leslie’s mental issues, Lorie had taken custody of her and Lance’s son, Brooks. Though Leslie attempted to fight for her child, Lorie emerged victorious in court. Once Victor got control of Prentiss Industries through Lorie, Lance left town. Regretting helping Victor, Lorie romanced him so she could access business documents and return the business to Lance. She and Victor were engaged to marry, but she left town instead.

Lorie returned in 1984, having remarried Lance, to attend Victor’s wedding to Nikki. She healed old wounds with him and reunited with her sisters. However, when Lorie returned to Genoa City again in 2002, she was determined to keep Nikki and Victor from tying the knot again. Her new husband, Max Hollister, wanted to take revenge against Victor by stealing Nikki and persuaded Lorie to seduce Victor on camera. However, she had second thoughts and refused to go through with the plan, leaving town again soon afterward. In 2018, Lorie came back to Genoa City for the Walnut Grove reunion and enjoyed herself, even exchanging barbs with Jill for old time’s sake!
