Viewers of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS got very excited about a photo that the soap shared back in August of Christian LeBlanc (Michael) and the recently-departed Greg Rikaart (Kevin)! “Reunited and it feels so good!” the soap tweeted. And now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Rikaart will be back on the air as Kevin starting Wednesday, Sept. 20. Unfortunately they’re also saying that it’s only for a handful of episodes over the course of two weeks, but who knows what the future may hold?
Rikaart joined Y&R back in 2003, and after 14 years on the soap, announced his departure in May of 2017. At the time, he admitted he was sad to bid farewell to the soap after so many years, but promised his fans that the future is still uncertain. “At the moment it is still unclear what lies ahead for Kevin and I,” Rikaart wrote, “as we will be saying goodbye to Genoa City for a while.”

Kevin was written off the show alongside Elizabeth Hendrickson’s Chloe and their daughter, Bella, after the law caught up with her. He arranged for them to go on the run and set up in Oregon as a family with new identities. So what brings Kevin back home? Does he need some legal advice from his brother, Michael? Or has Chloe done something terrible again?
When news of Rikaart’s exit broke, soap fans were upset and peppered the show with social media posts, E-mails, and letters asking them to reconsider and keep Kevin on the canvas. So while they will be thrilled by this news, the fact that it's planned to be a limited appearance is somewhat disappointing. Still, perhaps all that protesting could inspire Y&R to bring him back on a more permanent basis!
