Cane’s life has been going into a tailspin on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, and all the drama has some fans fearing that it means portrayer Daniel Goddard is leaving the soap. Thankfully, that is not the case as there is still much more drama to come! “To all my dear fans who have supported me and my TV alter ego through this emotionally charged Y&R storyline,” Goddard tweeted, “thank you! You are loved!”
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Goddard traveled to Hollywood where he began modeling and landed the starring role on the fantasy series BEASTMASTER from 1999-2002. After a series of film and television roles, Goddard hit it big in daytime when he joined the cast of Y&R as Cane Ashby in 2007. Cane was originally conceived as the son of Jill Abbott and Phillip Chancellor II, but when the real Phillip Chancellor III returned to Genoa City, his past was re-written so that he was the son of Colin and Genevieve Atkinson.

The character was popular, but when Cane was paired with Christel Khalil’s Lily Winters, he became a true fan favorite. Which is why in 2011, when Cane was shot and killed, there was a massive protest by viewers insisting that CBS and Sony Pictures Television rehire Goddard. The actor was brought back onto the soap and the storyline was revised so that it was actually Cane’s evil twin, Caleb, who had died.
But fans shouldn’t get their protest signs ready quiet yet, as there is still much more drama for Goddard to play as Cane’s life falls completely apart and he struggles to put the pieces back together. “I know that Cane brought all this on himself,” Goddard posted to Instagram. “But he is sorry for what he has done. But the fallout just won’t stop. I just don’t know how much a man can take or lose before he hits rock bottom and has a chance for forgiveness.”

So stay tuned to see just how much more Cane has to lose and if he'll be able to earn forgiveness from his loved ones. Oh, and to watch Goddard deliver more powerful performance as the storyline unfolds!
